Mother
Kausalya was there during Treta, Mother Devaki in Dwapara;
it was Mother Easwaramma – the most privileged and fortunate
Mother – the Mother who was the chosen one to bring
the physical form of the Avatar of the Age, Bhagawan Sri Sathya
Sai Baba. It is to commemorate her Great Motherhood that this
day, 6th May, the day of passing away of her physical frame
is celebrated as Easwaramma Day.
Easwaramma was an exemplary mother whose
selfless desires had fructified into three mammoth movements
or institutions thriving three diversified fields, Educare,
Medicare and Sociocare, ie., Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher
Learning, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences
and Sri Sathya Sai Drinking Water Supply Project, providing,
Education, Medical Care and Drinking Water to the parched
area of Rayalaseema – all absolutely free of cost.
True to His teaching, My Life is My Message,
Bhagawan exhorts others to emulate Him in adoring and revering
one’s Mother. Bhagawan is often lavish at praising His
physical Mother, for her great love and affection that was
shown towards Him. Bhagawan says she was an exemplary mother
who had great affection and sacred love towards Him. …and
she could lead a life of fulfillment because of this great
love for her Divine son. In order to promulgate this sacred
ideal of greatness of Motherly Love, Easwaramma Day is celebrated
every year on this auspicious day.
“Kondama Raju, being the one with wisdom
always craved for Me. One day, he called Pedda Venkama Raju
by his side and told him to change his wife’s name to
‘Easwaramma’. He told this because he felt the
divine vibrations originating from within. His intention was
to convey that she was the Mother of Easwara, God Himself.”
Mother Easwaramma was well known for her
love for children. Traditionally, Easwaramma Day is marked
with cultural programmes by Balvikas Children from different
states in the Divine Presence. In His Divine discourse Bhagawan
gives insights into the life of Mother Easwaramma. As this
function falls in the month of May, in the recent years it
is celebrated either at Brindavan in Bangalore or at Kodaikanal
in the Divine Presence. Sathya Sai Seva Organisations celebrate
this day as Mother’s day and lots of charity to the
poor is done to commemorate the tender heart of this great
Mother. In Prasanthi Nilayam devotees congregate at the Samadhi
Mandir for Bhagawan’s parents, conduct Bhajans and offerings
and in the end Prasadam will be distributed. |
