The Spiritual revolution
that has been set in motion by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba
for the revival of Dharma and thereby to lead mankind towards
the ultimate goal of self-realisation, is based on the five
cardinal principles - Human Values - Truth, Righteousness,
Peace, Love and Non-violence. The seed for this was sown,
when the first message was promulgated through His Divine
lips, when He was a boy of fourteen, guiding those who flocked
around Him, to worship the Lotus Feet of the to cross the
ocean of birth and death, through His famous bhajan:
" Manasa Bhajare Guru Charanam
Dustara Bhava Sagara Taranam… "
Gurupurnima is the
day on which one celebrates the dispersal of the darkness
of ignorance from the mind." - Baba
Gurupurnima is the day on which one desire
to worship the Guru and please him by propitiation. But, the
real significance lays making the mind shine in the serene
splendour without any trace of evil qualitites and fixing
it firmly on the Supreme Being. When this real victory over
mind is attained, that day is real Guru Purnima, when one
mind itself becomes Guru, leading one to the right path, this
is the full moon of the mind, for the moon is the presiding
deity over the mind.
This day is also celebrated as Vyasa Purnima,
the full moon day, dedicated to the memory of sage Vyasa.
Vyasa was born on this full-moon day. He completed the codification
of the four Vedas on this day. He completed the writing of
the eighteen Puranas on this day. Owning to the passage of
time, Vyasa Purnima came to be called Guru Purnima.
Bhagawan adds:
" Guru Purnima is considered as the
day on which one celebrates the dispersal of the darkness
of ignorance from the mind." Bhagawan, being the indweller
in every being, is guiding and guarding individuals in their
march towards the shore of eternity dispelling the darkness
of ignorance. The march is on…as He keeps His focus
on each one of us making strides towards Him, the Ultimate.
