Mumbai is a city that is always on the move. But today, she had a spring in her step and a song in her heart. After all, her beloved Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba was paying her a Divine Visit—after NINE long years!
Two and a half weeks earlier, when the yearning ‘gop & gopikas’ heard of the return of their Lord Krishna, they jumped to their feet and painstakingly started making preparations for His comfortable stay.
As promised, the Lord of the Universe descended from the blue-green hills of Hadshi—and sanctified the parched soils of Mumbai.
He first went to His Abode, Dharmakshetra, where His devotees were pouring all their devotion into their soul-stirring Bhajans, calling out to Him, beseeching Him for grace and guidance
In the evening, nearly fifty thousand devotees gathered the NSE Grounds in Goregaon. The packed, humungous hall, housing over 60000, reverberated with their unified voice melodiously singing His praise and glory.
Baba arrived at around 6:30 pm, and was greeted by the chanting of Vedas. The powerful vibrations surged across the grounds, holding all present in a heavenly embrace. Baba sat atop a beautifully decorated stage, lovingly looking at His children in the front rows and searching for all those who were towards the far end.
Soon after, the renowned singer Sonu Nigam and his family sought the blessings of Bhagawan. Nigam and his orchestra then began their musical performance with the bhajan ‘Sai Baba Bolo’. The crowds clapped in tune, with Baba joining in, all the while keeping beat with the music.
Between songs, an overwhelmed Nigam humbly admitted it was his first performance before Baba and asked for forgiveness if he made a mistake. Three songs later, he sought Baba’s permission to continue his performance. Baba graciously agreed, after which Nigam uplifted the spirits of all present with his rendition of ‘Aisi Lagi Lagan, Meera Ho Gayi Magan’.
Bhagawan blessed the singer with a white diamond ring at the end of his programme.
Bhagawan accepted Aarti at around 7:10 pm and left for Indulal Shah's residence. Bhagawan later returned to Dharmakshetra at 9:30 Hrs.
